Lattice dynamics and stability in the family of Rb-, Cd-, Cl-containing perovskites

Аннотация: Lattice dynamics and stability in the perovskite-like RbCdCl3, Rb2CdCl4, and Rb3Cd2Cl7 crystals are studied. The vibrations almost unstable with respect to the deformations of the structure and interionic potential (soft modes) are found. The observed phase transitions are associated with condensation of these vibrations, which areПоказать полностьюthe superposition of the rotations of CdCl6 octahedra and displacements of Rb+ ions. The relative contribution of ion displacements increases from the first to the last crystal.
