Аннотация: The article is based on archival and published sources on a specific example of settlers of the early twentieth century. People from Belorussia are considering the mechanisms of formation of the permanent population of Siberia in the late imperial period. Migration was the basis of its voluntary, mainly peasant population, organizeПоказать полностьюd and encouraged by the state. It acquired a particularly mass character during the period of the Stolypin agrarian reform. The forms inherent in migration, their characteristics, dynamics and geography of migrations are studied. The emphasis is on the social practices of settlers, their adaptation to new historical conditions. Models of relationships with old-timers are explored. elements of adaptation to the landscape environment of the region. The structure of the economy of the settlers, its changes in comparison with Belarus is analyzed. These markers mark the preservation of ethnic identity as a language, elements of material culture. The authors come to the following conclusions. The Russian empire was interested in moving significant Slavic contingents to the east of the country, since in that case it was possible not only to expand the internal borders of the empire, but also to maintain the stability of the state against the background of the unfolding social catastrophe. The "imperial situation" in Siberia was characterized by the inclusion of an ethnic component on the rights of self-government. At the same time, the empire did not aspire to universality at this stage of its existence: the Belarusians in the Yenisei province were included in the hierarchy of local ethnic groups with their own values and culture. It is also noted that in compact settlements of immigrants from Belarus consolidation and establishment of strong ties at the organizational level takes place, that is, an expat community is being formed.
