Аннотация: Актуализируется опыт применения исторического источника в ходе преподавания истории на разных ступенях вузовского образования. Предлагается образовательная стратегия, построенная на активном включении исторических источников в учебный процесс. The current social progress demands a formation of an innovative educational system to train new generation specialists with big creativity, systematic thinking, developed leadership and communicative skills, capacities to ongoing education and self-improvement, and also high resilience. Present national challenges have made the promotion of patriotism and citizenship urgent. A valuable foundation to reach these goals in our country has always been the humanities, history in particular. The aim of this article is to demonstrate how a historical source can become a core for teaching history at different levels of university education. The author proposes an educational strategy built on active incorporation of sources in historical lessons. General features of this system are fundamentality, consistency and versatility. It combines the experience of Russian historical science, national teaching traditions and modern achievements in the humanities, and can be used for students both in general courses and in professional subjects. The first section of the article discusses special aspects of history teaching for different students of non-humanitarian professions. It shows opportunities of using work with historical sources to awake interest in history, to include students in the historical process, to introduce them to scientific procedures in history and to develop their perception of a different culture. The second section of the article explains the using of historical sources at lessons with humanitarian students. In this case, source studies promote developing not only general competencies, but also professional ones. Students learn the methodology of the humanities, practise advertency to information and interdisciplinary cooperation. The biggest third section of the article concerns work with historical sources in different stages of professional history studying. Students receive the necessary empirical base on general history subjects, theoretical and methodological knowledge on source studies, and deepen and practice professional skills in their research projects. This contributes to training versatile and adaptable professionals in education, research, management, culture, and also project development. Thus, it is increasingly clear that the intensification of source studying at history lessons is very useful for solving current problems in university education, general and professional practice in the humanities.
