Аннотация: The paper presents the results of a 3D modeling of the cathode strained-stressed state in the aluminum electrolysis cell. The model was constructed based on finite element analysis software COSMOSM2.0 and comprises solution of such problems as electric and thermal conductivity, thermal elasticity and plasticity for a quarter of a cПоказать полностьюell. The model involves all lining elements: cathode blocks, collector bars, cast iron, joints and seams, thermal insulation and refractory layers, compensation for bottom expansion, ramming paste, etc. The cathode shell model includes all stiffeners, the type of a cathode shell - split or welded, etc. The properties of refractory and shell materials (electric and thermal conductivity, coefficient of linear thermal expansion, elasticity modulus, compression yield strength, modulus of strengthening) are used depending on temperature and with the account of their changes during the cell life. Strains and stresses developed in the cell were simulated under the influence of three major processes: thermal expansion of cathode lining and steel shell, sodium expansion of cathode bottom and expansion of lining material under cathode blocks caused by new salts formation due to interaction of materials with the melt penetrating into them.
