Аннотация: The article examines the confrontation in the East Siberian provincial administration in the 1870s. Data from anonymous sources about confrontation and corruption in the highest management body of Eastern Siberia are introduced into scientific circulation and verified. Documentary sources on the conflict situation within the adminiПоказать полностьюstrative apparatus of Eastern Siberia under Governor-General P.A. Fredericks (1874-1880) are analyzed. Examination of the information about the life of ex-governor A.D. Lokhvitsky has been carried out and it confirmed its reliability. Based on the historical, biographical and textual tools, the hypothesis of authorship of V.V. Dlotovsky concerning submitted anonymous sources has been put forward and justified. The very genre of denunciations served in the XIX century as almost the only form of feedback between the authorities and the population allowing to avoid subservience to the superiors while criticizing their actions. Anonymous sources being emotional and frank, at the same time are more likely to represent distorted information or its biased selection. Thus, the use of such documents in scientific discourse is possible only in their comprehensive "cross-analysis" and verification. Alteration of the administrative-territorial organization and reorganization of the state institutions of Siberia in second half XIX century has led to aggravation of contradictions in the managerial elite of the region and increase the number of anonymous denunciations.
