The purpose of this article is a comparative assessment of investment activities in Russia, in the United States and in the development of the relevant proposals and recommendations that can be directed at improving the efficiency of investment activities of the Russian Federation. In this work were used the following general scientific methods: analysis, comparison, generalization, system approach. Through this analysis, barriers were identified that hampered the efficiency of Russian investment spheres. Such barriers limit access to the market for foreign investment institutions. As a result, it can be said that investment funds in the USA significantly exceed Russian investment funds. At the same legal personality in the United States have all forms of investment funds, which cannot be said about Russia. It follows that at present one of the most important tasks to improve the investment climate and increase the investment attractiveness of the country is to make timely adjustments to existing forms and methods of regulating investment activities.
