Аннотация: The article describes the concept of the Russian Hydropower Industry Specific Vocabulary Dictionary and aims to present its prototype. The following sources served as the factual database for the dictionary: (1) lexicographical sources; (2) scientific, academic and popular scientific literature on hydroelectric engineering; (3) nomПоказать полностьюenclative National State Standards; (4) articles from specialized periodicals; (5) linguistic material collected during questionnaires and interviews with the workers of Krasnoyarsk, Boguchany and Volga hydroelectric power stations. In the study, a continuous sampling method for specialized texts and a sociolinguistic method with its techniques of interviewing and questioning were used for collecting materials; a lexicographical method was used at the practical stage. According to its typological properties, the Russian Hydropower Industry Specific Vocabulary Dictionary is characterized as specific (by its topic); monolingual (by its language); contemporary (by time); academic (by its designation); explanatory (by its lexicographic genre); small (by its size); inventory and non-normative (by its vocabulary). The ideographic principle of representing specific vocabulary of the Russian hydropower industry assumes classifying its terms into terminological microfields, terminological groups and terminological subgroups. The dictionary includes the following terminological microfields: “Types of Hydropower Stations”, “Dams”, and “Hydropower Unit”. The microstructure of the dictionary is the structure of a dictionary entry including particular zones, some of these zones are obligatory, others are optional. Taking into consideration the fact that modern terminography is multiaspect as a result of a cognitive approach to the lexical units’ description, a dictionary entry is complex by its nature. The general structure of the entries of all the lexical units in the dictionaryis as follows: (1) lemma; (2) zone of formal description; (3) zone of stratification description; (4) zone of stylistic description; (5) zone of dictionary definition; (6) zone of examples. The dictionary was designed with regard to the developed concept, and it will find application not only among specialists who work at hydropower stations, but also can be helpful to terminologists, translators and interpreters, as well as in academic training. Further development of the dictionary, its vocabulary extension by the inclusion of new terminological groups and a lexicographic description of terminological fields are prospective. © 2019 Tomsk State University.
